For today and the future

As Part L reduces the heating demand within new developments, hot water has become the dominant energy load. This means that producing this dominant energy demand in a low carbon way can have a large impact in positively reducing the carbon emissions of a building.

Achieving compliance today

For new residential developments under the current Part L, Edel can offer buildings designers a high on-site renewables contribution within SAP, aiding in meeting regional requirements when paired with direct acting panel heating. When combined with the other benefits that this solution offers, Edel becomes a financially and practically viable solution to providing hot water in residential developments.

Future developments

Edel can also provide further benefits beyond the compliance measures required today. As European and UK law moves the UK to nearly zero energy buildings (NZEBs) by the 31/12/2020, upcoming updates to Part L and Part F are likely to see the positive effects of this technology become more impactful in helping towards future developments gain compliance.

What is an Edel Hot Water Heat Pump?

With a COP of up to 3.24, Edel is a low carbon technology for heating hot water. It consists of a ducted system to supply external air to an internally installed air source heat pump mounted on the top of a water cylinder. The heat pump collects energy from the air and converts this into heat, which is then transferred to the water within the cylinder – creating hot water up to 60°C.
