Up to date information on the influences on the construction industry

What's it all about

Finding the time to read through new industry strategies, plans and other legislative pieces can be difficult. This is why we have a team of people working to not only understand, but also to influence the direction of the industry, so we are able to keep you up to date with the changes which affect HVAC specification.

Change is coming...
Primary Energy

The EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires the UK to build Nearly Zero Energy Buildings from the 31st December 2020.

To comply with this target, government is using the approaching update to Approved Documents L and F of the Building Regulations to enforce the terms of the EPBD, and the consultations for this update will be released later this year.

Staying on target
Combining nearly zero energy buildings and low carbon HVAC solutions

The Part L Consultation is expected to include how the UK will achieve the NZEB target by 31/12/2020

As NZEBs are measured in primary energy, this could change the focus of energy performance targets, changing the specifiable HVAC solutions

With the Consultation anticipated before the end of 2019, we have created a report on what this transition in UK compliance could mean for you.

Nearly Zero Energy Buildings

One of the directive’s main initiatives was to ensure that all member states only build nearly zero energy buildings (NZEBs) after the 31st December 2020.

The benefits of low temperature networks in residential apartments

To meet increasingly stricter compliance targets, building designers are progressively needing to seek alternatives to traditional HVAC strategies, especially within high-rise residential projects.
