Calculating diversity factors accurately

To help with the specification of the Zeroth Energy System into new developments, GDHV, in collaboration with TUV SUD, has produced the ‘Zeroth Diversity Guide’. The guide allows building services engineers to calculate diversity factors confidently and accurately, successfully implementing the Zeroth Energy System by providing system design information and references which lay out the steps needed in the design process, including:

  • Planning stage considerations that form the basis for the implementation of the Zeroth Energy System
  • Determining realistic and appropriate diversity for the application
  • Calculating total heating and cooling loads for the development using relevant diversity factors and determining plant and distribution loads
  • Calculating design primary flow rates
  • Defining the pipework across the whole system according to flowrate
